A long time TV development executive praised the “remarkable” pitch for The WB’s Smallville.

Deadline today ran a piece by longtime TV development executive Susanne Daniels who was at The WB network back in 2000 when Alfred Gough and Miles Millar pitched their “Young Clark Kent” series Smallville. We know how the story ends, but this piece by Daniels talked about how “remarkable” the original pitch had been.

“When Peter Roth was running Warner Bros, he called me to “preview” the Smallville pitch,” she recalled. “I remember telling him something along the churlish lines of ‘Superman didn’t feel exciting and fresh to me.’ Later that week, I bought the show halfway through Gough & Millar’s remarkable pitch.”

Of course, Smallville went on to go for ten seasons on The WB and successor network The CW, being one of the most successful series in the networks’ history. You can read the entire Deadline piece here.

Does This Injustice Superman Action Figure Resemble Smallville’s Tom Welling?

A new Injustice action figure bears a slight resemblance to Smallville actor Tom Welling.

An upcoming action figure from the DC Gaming Wave 10 7-inch scale Injustice action figures from Todd McFarlane resembles a certain Super-actor.

Fans have noted that this figure looks a bit like Smallville’s Tom Welling, whose Clark Kent, of course, gave up his powers on Earth-167 to raise his daughters with the love of his life, Lois Lane. But hey — could this be a fan’s opportunity to finally have a Welling as Superman action figure? It appears so!

You can take a look at the figure below, and for more views and to pre-order this figure, visit Entertainment Earth – the affiliate link used here helps support KryptonSite and would be very much appreciated!

One of the rare good elements from the recent Flash movie was the inclusion of Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and now, we can revisit her and a few old Supergirl favorites, as Laura Vandervoort (Smallville), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl TV series from The CW & CBS), and Helen Slater (movies’ original Supergirl) are all included on a featurette on The Flash movie home release. These are all new interviews with the actresses, and in some cases, these are their first interviews about the character in years. The title of the featurette is “Supergirl: The Last Daughter of Krypton.”

Although a Twitter/X report from “Sennaverse” on Twitter notes that the documentary can be found on the MAX streaming service, we have had no luck finding it there so far. The featurette is included, however, with purchase of The Flash movie on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD. The set is due for release on Tuesday, August 29. You can purchase that here and support KryptonSite if you wish!

We’re looking forward to seeing these new interviews and spotlight on the Woman of Tomorrow!

Smallville Featured as a Clue on Jeopardy!

Smallville was featured as a clue on the August 14 episode of the syndicated game show Jeopardy!

Smallville was the answer to a clue on the Monday, August 14, 2023 episode of the syndicated test of knowledge game show Jeopardy!

Here’s what the clue said:

“Clark Kent’s high school years and time at Central Kansas A&M were covered in this show named for Clark’s hometown.”

Now, the argument could be made that mentioning his time in college is… a choice, considering how short of a time Clark actually spent in college in Season 5… but it was fun to see Smallville represented on the screen and in history like this!

You can see a shot of the clue below. Glad to see someone over at Jeopardy! is still always holding on to Smallville!
